Step into History: See What the Traveling Museum Brought to LA

Location: Petree Foyer past West Lobby

History has traveled from Alexandria, Virginia, to Los Angeles! This year's AAO-HNSF Traveling Museum from the John Q. Adams Center for the History of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery explores the remarkable evolution of hearing rehabilitation.

The exhibit features two displays that trace how the specialty has helped people reconnect with sound.

From Ear Trumpets to Hearing Aids follows the development and evolution of hearing rehabilitation from mechanical acoustic devices and early diagnostic instruments to electronic amplification and modern hearing aids.

The Development of the Cochlear Implant explores the scientific and clinical journey from early experiments in electrical hearing to the modern cochlear implant.

A special thank you to Alexander Chern, MD, and James J. Kearney, MD, who curated the exhibit along with the AAO-HNSF History and Archives Committee.

Keep your eyes open. Rumor has it the Traveling Museum may be a stop on this year's scavenger hunt. Open the #OTOMTG26 app and join the hunt and see what you can uncover among the artifacts.
